The History of Tile Importer

Tile Importer commenced operations in 1966 in Glenhuntly, importing tiles as a part time venture

In 1978, Perry Sambor, manager and owner of the company, together with his father Sam, realised the potential for growth and developed the company into a full time family business, expanding into sales of a broad range of building materials.

They both had specific roles within the company. Sam was in charge of purchasing, and Perry managed the marketing and sales side of the business. Mrs Sambor, Perry’s mother, joined the business as the Financial Manager in 1988, and continues to contribute to the business today.

In 1990, Tile Importer moved to its current site at 17 Natalia Avenue, Oakleigh South with a growing full time team of dedicated staff.

In 2008, Tile Importer’s growth encouraged the construction of a flooring showroom. This then expanded into plumbing and bathroom. Then in 2013, a large Bathroom and Kitchen Display Centre was created, enabling customers to browse through Tile Importer’s huge range of bathroom and kitchen products.

Tile Importer has grown to offer a one-stop solution, making it easy for customers to select and purchase all their building and renovating needs in one location.

Today, Tile Importer is a competitive and successful business in the timber, kitchen and bathroom industries. It continues to grow and is committed to providing good customer service, a wide range of products, and the most competitive prices possible.
